For the sake of simplicity and anonymity, I am going to identify myself as “JS,” Jizo’s Steward. I hope that you are thriving during this very challenging time. We are all experiencing the stress of Covid-19 dictating our every move. Our young people especially are feeling confused about all of these new rules, which in turn adds more stress to their parents.
While we are all being asked to physically distance from each other, I thought of a fun way to connect people. My front garden currently hosts many Jizo statues. I recently left a note out in the garden, inviting children and other passersby to find all nine of the statues! It has been so much fun to hear little voices outside of my door as they ambitiously count aloud. To make the Jizo Journey game more adventurous, the Jizo statues mysteriously move to different parts of the yard every day.
To expand on this project, I have started to post images of Jizos around my neighborhood. I invite you to do the same in your neighborhood. Just download the PDF below this post and color it in. I would also appreciate it if you took a photo of your Jizo picture and posted it on our Twitter page: @jizopeacecenter #jizo. Please share this with others. Thank you!
May all beings be happy,
May all beings be safe,
May all beings be free
